Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson has been away from WWE television since Elimination Chamber 2025, when John Cena’s shocking heel turn ended The Final Boss’s last on-screen storyline.
Now, with WrestleMania 43 set to take place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia in 2027, speculation is heating up once again about whether The Rock will return — and this time, the possibility might be bigger than ever.
WWE and Saudi Arabia Want The Rock at WrestleMania 43
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, sources inside Saudi Arabia have reportedly expressed serious interest in having The Rock appear at WrestleMania 43.
In fact, they’re prepared to make him “the largest offer ever made” for a pro wrestling appearance. While the report doesn’t confirm if that would include an actual match, it clearly shows how much they value his star power.
Given WWE’s deep business ties with Saudi Arabia and the massive scale of WrestleMania, bringing in The Rock would turn an already global event into a pop culture phenomenon.
The Rock Responds: “It’s All Good”
Speaking on Raffi Talks, Johnson didn’t deny the possibility. In fact, his comments have only added fuel to the fire:
“I’m excited for the brand of WrestleMania. I’m excited for the Kingdom because that is a big show. I’m also excited not only for the brand, but I’m excited for our athletes to be able to participate in an event like that, and that is a global event. And so I can’t wait.”
When asked more directly about his involvement, he added:
“In terms of the conversations I’ve been having, it’s all good. It will always be good.”
While this doesn’t confirm his appearance, it clearly suggests positive talks are underway — and his excitement hints that he’s at least considering being part of the event.
Could The Rock Wrestle Again?
Though Johnson’s full-time wrestling days are long behind him, an in-ring return isn’t off the table, especially with this kind of money and global attention involved. His last match was at WrestleMania 40 in 2024, when he teamed with Roman Reigns to defeat Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins. That match drew massive attention and proved that The Rock still has drawing power.
If he does wrestle again, these are the most likely opponents:
- Roman Reigns: This is the match fans have wanted for years. With the family and Bloodline connection, it’s a natural fit. Though WWE pivoted to Reigns vs. Rhodes in 2024, this dream match could finally happen in 2027.
- Cody Rhodes: Given their brief history during the WrestleMania 40 build-up, Rhodes could be another strong contender. A high-stakes match between The Rock and The American Nightmare would be headline-worthy.
