After a short but impactful return to the ring, Cassie Lee and Jessie McKay—better known to fans as The IInspiration—are officially done with TNA Wrestling. The news comes shortly after they dropped the TNA Knockouts Tag Team Titles to The Elegance Brand on the debut episode of iMPACT! on AMC.
According to Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select, the duo’s exit was not due to injury or backstage drama, but rather a natural end to their short-term deal with the company. Now, fans are wondering: what’s next for the former WWE and TNA champions?
The IInspiration’s Time in TNA Comes to an End
Lee and McKay had been working under short-term contracts with TNA since making their return to the business in mid-2025. Those contracts officially expired in October, but the pair agreed to stick around through TNA’s big relaunch on AMC. That loyalty culminated with one final match, where they did the honours and dropped the Knockouts Tag Team Titles.
“We’re told that they were open to remaining with TNA, but ended up opting to finish up after this week,” said Ross Sapp.
TNA will now look to rebuild its Knockouts Tag Team division, and they’ve already taken a step forward by introducing Daria Rae (formerly Sonya Deville) in an authority role, and Elayna Black (formerly Cora Jade) as a new signing.
A Tag Team Legacy Still in Progress
Cassie Lee and Jessie McKay have always had a clear mission—to raise the bar for women’s tag team wrestling. That passion first came to light in WWE as The IIconics, where they became WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions. After their WWE release, the duo took a break in 2022 to start their families but made a return in 2025, choosing TNA as the platform for their comeback.
“We are so passionate about tag team wrestling & fight so hard for the women to be in the spotlight,” Cassie said in a June interview. “It will forever be our goal to be the standard of women’s tag team wrestling.”
That mission is clearly not finished—just on pause from TNA.
Could WWE or AEW Be Next for The IInspiration?
As of now, there are no confirmed talks between Lee and McKay and either WWE or AEW, but both companies would benefit greatly from adding a well-established tag team like The IInspiration to their women’s divisions.
AEW’s Growing Tag Division
- AEW introduced its Women’s World Tag Team Championship in September.
- Harley Cameron and Willow Nightingale are the inaugural champions, bringing early prestige to the belts.
- AEW has made a push to give its women’s tag teams consistent screen time, and The IInspiration could be a major boost in star power and experience.
WWE’s Women’s Tag Revival
- WWE’s women’s tag scene has gained momentum with major names like Charlotte Flair, Bayley, IYO SKY, and Rhea Ripley involved.
- A return to WWE would create immediate buzz and offer dream matchups with new teams and returning stars like Alexa Bliss and Asuka.
Wherever they go, The IInspiration remain one of the few true women’s tag teams in wrestling today—with real chemistry, shared history, and in-ring polish. Their brand of charisma and connection with fans is something few teams can match.
What’s Next for Cassie Lee & Jessie McKay?
While nothing is confirmed yet, The IInspiration are clearly keeping their options open. Their decision to exit TNA on good terms suggests they’re open to exploring the right opportunity—be it in WWE, AEW, or even the international scene.
With the Royal Rumble and AEW Revolution on the horizon, don’t be surprised if Lee and McKay pop up in a surprise appearance very soon.
