Though WWE hasn’t confirmed anything officially, behind-the-scenes chatter and travel reports point to Hobbs being a strong candidate for a shock appearance — possibly as a Rumble entrant or in another capacity on the card.

According to Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select, Royce Keys (f.k.a. Powerhouse Hobbs) has traveled to Saudi Arabia ahead of the Royal Rumble — but not with the main group of WWE talent.
While Sapp could not confirm his appearance, the fact that he’s in the region makes it highly likely that WWE is planning to use him during the show, especially considering WWE Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque promised multiple surprises for the event.
“We can’t confirm he will be in the Rumble, but sources indicated Hobbs was scheduled to travel,” Sapp reported.
Who is Royce Keys (Powerhouse Hobbs)?
Powerhouse Hobbs made his name in AEW, where he rose through the ranks and even held the TNT Championship. Known for his strength, intensity, and presence, Hobbs built a fan following as a no-nonsense powerhouse who brought old-school vibes to modern wrestling.
Now reportedly renamed Royce Keys after WWE filed a trademark under that name, he’s expected to relaunch his persona in WWE with a fresh look and renewed direction.
WWE vs AEW: Hobbs Was in High Demand
Reports from Dave Meltzer reveal that AEW made a major push to retain Hobbs, offering him a deal that rivaled what Bryan Danielson received during his move to AEW in 2021.
“The AEW offer was much higher than I expected,” Meltzer said, even suggesting it was one of the top offers ever made outside of Chris Jericho in AEW’s early years.
Ultimately, Hobbs opted to sign with WWE — signaling not only a major pickup for the company, but also suggesting WWE sees long-term potential in Royce Keys as a major player on their roster.
