The two stars battled for the full 20-minute time limit. Since there was no winner, Moxley retained his championship. Even though the title did not change hands, fans described it as a strong and exciting start to the show.
Babes of Wrath Hold On to Tag Gold
Willow Nightingale and Harley Cameron defeated Megan Bayne and Penelope Ford to retain the AEW Women’s Tag Team Championships.
After the match, Lena Kross officially debuted in AEW. She attacked the champions and aligned herself with Megabad, possibly forming a new alliance in the women’s division. This surprise moment added more drama to the tag team scene.
Hangman Page Earns Title Shot
Hangman Adam Page faced Andrade El Idolo in a number one contender’s match.
Hangman came out on top, earning a future AEW World Championship match at Revolution. The win officially sets up a major showdown next month.
Wheeler Yuta Gets His Head Shaved
In one of the most entertaining matches of the night, Toni Storm and Orange Cassidy defeated Marina Shafir and Wheeler Yuta in a Mixed Tornado Tag Team Match.
Yuta took the pinfall loss. Because of the stipulation, he had his head shaved after the match. Fans in attendance said the moment got a big reaction and added a fun twist to the event.
Kyle Fletcher Retains and Unveils New Belt
Kyle Fletcher defended his TNT Championship against Mark Briscoe in a Ladder Match.
Both men delivered a high-risk performance. Fletcher managed to retain his title and later introduced a new pink TNT Championship belt in front of his hometown crowd. The special design received a strong reaction from fans.
MJF Survives Brody King
The main event featured MJF defending the AEW World Championship against Brody King.
King had previously defeated MJF in quick fashion, but this time the stakes were much higher. The Sydney crowd loudly chanted anti-ICE slogans before the match began.
In the end, MJF successfully retained his title. After the match, Hangman Adam Page came down to the ring for a tense stare-down. This face-off gave fans a preview of what to expect at AEW Revolution.
