Pretty Deadly, the flamboyant tag team of Kit Wilson and Elton Prince, first made waves in WWE when they joined NXT UK back in 2019. Their charisma and chemistry helped them quickly climb the ranks, winning both the NXT UK Tag Team and NXT Tag Team Championships. But since their 2023 move to SmackDown, things have changed — especially for Kit Wilson.
Kit Wilson’s Rise as a Singles Competitor
In 2025, fans began noticing that Pretty Deadly was appearing less frequently on TV. The reason? Kit Wilson began stepping into the singles spotlight. With Elton Prince sidelined due to a serious neck injury, Wilson embraced the opportunity to make a name for himself.
He took part in the Speed Title number one contender tournament and had several appearances on WWE Main Event. His new theme music and revamped character clicked with fans, helping him gain momentum as a solo performer.
Wilson, though now competing on his own, made it clear that his heart still belongs to the tag team division. In an interview with Chris Van Vliet on Insight, he said:
“I’m a tag guy ‘til I die. I’d love to win the US Title and cut that thing right in half. Half for me, half for Elton.”
This creative idea throws back to WWE’s LayCool duo, who famously shared the Women’s Championship in 2010, literally splitting the title belt in two.
Elton Prince’s Injury and Recovery
Elton Prince has been out of action since May 2nd, when Pretty Deadly faced a loss to Fraxiom on SmackDown. Shortly after, it was revealed that Prince suffered a neck injury that required neck fusion surgery — a serious procedure that often demands a long recovery time.
During his chat with Van Vliet, Kit Wilson shared that the surgery went well and everything looked positive. It had been over two weeks since the operation at the time of the interview, and all signs were pointing toward a steady recovery. However, there’s no official timeline yet for Prince’s in-ring return.
What’s Next for Kit Wilson?
Although Kit Wilson remains loyal to Pretty Deadly, his singles career is starting to shine. He’s openly talked about wanting to win both the United States Championship and the Intercontinental Championship someday. Van Vliet even suggested that Wilson could come up with a custom belt design, and Wilson confirmed he already has some designs in mind.
So while his tag team partner is out, Kit Wilson is using the time to evolve. With fan support growing, new music trending, and more screen time on WWE programming, he’s proving that he can stand tall on his own — while keeping the Pretty Deadly spirit alive.
