A potential injury scare on Monday’s Raw raised concerns about the status of Je’Von Evans, one of WWE’s brightest young stars. The 21-year-old was in the middle of a bout with El Grande Americano during the show in Belfast, Northern Ireland when the match was abruptly stopped.
What Happened in the Match?
Evans had been in control of the match when the action paused for a commercial break. When the show resumed on Netflix, the television audience saw Evans outside the ring, seemingly trying to collect himself. It wasn’t long before referee Jessika Carr called for the bell and awarded the victory to El Grande Americano via referee stoppage.
Doctors quickly checked on Evans at ringside, and it was determined that he couldn’t continue the match. On commentary, Michael Cole speculated that Evans might have sustained an upper body injury, possibly to his shoulder or pectoral muscle, but it was later clarified that this was not the case.
The Concern: Possible Concussion
According to Mike Johnson of PWInsider, the primary concern surrounding Je’Von Evans was the possibility of a concussion. After being evaluated by medical personnel backstage, Evans was reportedly able to leave the venue with the rest of the locker room.
While it was initially feared he had suffered a concussion, Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select reported that Evans appeared to be okay after the match, though the situation remains under close scrutiny.
As of now, it is not confirmed whether Evans suffered a concussion, but it’s not believed to be the case. WWE has yet to provide an official statement on his condition, though further updates will likely be provided soon.
