The Hardy Boyz may not be full-time WWE Superstars anymore, but that doesn’t mean their story with the company is over. In fact, if Matt Hardy’s latest comments are anything to go by, fans could see more Hardy moments in WWE before 2026 is done.
Even though Matt and Jeff Hardy are currently signed with TNA Wrestling and are the reigning TNA World Tag Team Champions, talks with WWE are still ongoing.
The Hardys Are Still Talking to WWE
Speaking to Alistair McGeorge of METRO, Matt Hardy made it clear that the relationship between The Hardys and WWE is still strong.
“We’re in constant negotiations with WWE about doing some more stuff,” Matt said. “We will do more with them.”
However, Matt also explained why they chose to remain with TNA instead of signing full-time with WWE again.
According to him, TNA offers them a better position to succeed, contribute meaningfully, and help grow the company. At this stage of their careers, that matters more than simply being back under the WWE banner full-time.
He also praised WWE leadership, mentioning positive interactions with Shawn Michaels and Triple H. That kind of goodwill makes future collaborations much easier.
Matt even teased that fans could see “some more cool Hardy Boyz moments in WWE before it’s all said and done in 2026.”
That’s enough to get longtime fans excited.
Their Last WWE Run Ended with an Injury
The Hardys last appeared on WWE television at NXT Halloween Havoc in October, where they were defending the NXT Tag Team Championships.
They lost the titles to DarkState in a chaotic Broken Rules match. Unfortunately, the bigger story coming out of that night was Jeff Hardy’s injury.
Jeff suffered bulging discs in his neck during the match. It’s a serious issue, especially for someone known for high-risk moves and extreme stunts.
Despite the injury, Jeff has continued to push forward.
Jeff Hardy’s Injury Update
Jeff recently shared that after consulting with a neurosurgeon, he was told the injury can heal naturally over time. Because of that, he is trying to avoid surgery and instead work closely with TNA’s medical team.
Since October, Jeff has wrestled just one singles match. He defeated Mustafa Ali on TNA iMPACT last month. However, he admitted that the match likely aggravated the injury slightly.
The good news is that he says he feels better now than he did a few months ago.
Normally, a bulging disc can heal within four to six weeks. But for a professional wrestler who constantly takes bumps and performs dangerous spots, recovery naturally takes longer.
Jeff is being cautious — and that’s probably the smart move at this point in his career.
Why Staying in TNA Makes Sense
At this stage, The Hardys are not just performers. They are veterans, mentors, and locker room leaders.
In TNA, they:
• Hold championship gold
• Work meaningful storylines
• Help develop younger talent
• Have creative freedom
Going back to WWE full-time might not give them the same level of influence or positioning.
However, a part-time crossover arrangement gives fans the best of both worlds.
What Could “More Hardy Moments” Look Like?
If The Hardys do appear again in WWE, possibilities include:
• A one-night return at a major premium live event
• A nostalgia-driven WrestleMania moment
• A Hall of Fame induction tease
• A dream match against a modern tag team
Given WWE’s current partnership with TNA, these appearances are easier to arrange than ever before.
The wrestling business has changed. Crossovers are no longer rare surprises — they’re strategic collaborations.
