At 55 years old, Chris Jericho shows no signs of slowing down—whether in the ring or on stage. The legendary wrestler and rock frontman is still chasing dreams, shutting down age-related criticism, and proving that passion doesn’t retire.
Chris Jericho says age is no barrier
In a recent chat with Soundsphere Magazine, Jericho was asked about how age affects his ability to set and reach new goals—especially as someone balancing a wrestling career and a successful music journey with his band Fozzy.
Jericho responded with confidence and inspiration:
“It’s never too late. Ageism does exist, and you can’t worry about it… it’s not a death sentence to be in your 50s or your 60s and 70s. There’s still time to do things.”
He encouraged others not to let age—or self-doubt—stand in their way. Whether it’s recording a song or auditioning for a role, Jericho believes anyone can start something new if they just decide to.
“The biggest detriment to success that we have is ourselves. Someone’s got to do it, so why don’t you?”
Jericho’s current status in AEW and music
Jericho hasn’t wrestled since losing the Ring of Honor World Championship to Bandido at AEW Dynasty back in April. However, he remains active with Fozzy, which is scheduled to perform at the NAMM (National Association of Music Merchants) event in Anaheim, California.
This appearance rules out any surprise return at Saturday Night’s Main Event in Montreal this weekend, as both shows fall on the same day.
Is Chris Jericho returning to WWE?
Rumours around a WWE return for Jericho—also known as Y2J—have been swirling for months. Despite his age, Jericho still draws huge interest from fans and wrestling insiders alike. With his AEW contract reportedly expiring in late 2025, speculation grew that he might pop up at the first Monday Night Raw of 2026—but that didn’t happen.
The next big possibility? The 2026 Royal Rumble, set for January 31 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Jericho has a rich history with the Royal Rumble match and WWE fans have long loved his surprise appearances.
If his iconic theme music “Break the Walls Down” hits during the 30-man match, it would easily be one of the most electrifying moments of the night.
Jericho’s legacy continues to grow
Whether he returns to WWE, stays with AEW, or just continues rocking stages around the world, Chris Jericho is proving that age is just a number. With over 30 years in the business, multiple championships, best-selling albums, and a podcast empire under his belt, he’s still pushing forward.
Jericho’s message is clear: if you have a dream—pursue it, no matter your age.
