In the opening minutes of WWE Unreal Season 2 on Netflix, Becky Lynch—arguably the most influential women’s wrestler in WWE history—drops a heartfelt revelation: she’s on her final run in the company. For fans of The Man, this is the beginning of the end of an era.
The episode gives us a rare, emotional look at Lynch’s real life—her role as a mother, her relationship with Seth Rollins, and the inner conflict she feels while trying to juggle personal happiness with the demands of professional wrestling.
Burnout and the Break That Changed Everything
Back in May 2024, Lynch had reached a breaking point. Speaking candidly on the show, she recalled how she approached Triple H and asked for time off as her WWE contract neared its end. After being on the road nearly non-stop since her return in 2022 following maternity leave, Lynch admitted she was simply burned out.
“I love WWE, but I was away from [my daughter] for quite a bit and I felt when I’d come home she’d be mad at me — and I hated that.”
She went on to say that even though the crowds and championship moments are thrilling, nothing compared to watching her daughter Roux do a cartwheel at gymnastics class. That’s when she knew it was time to pause.
Triple H agreed to Lynch’s request, and the company froze her contract while she took time off.

A Quiet But Powerful Comeback
After 10 months away from WWE, Becky Lynch made a surprise return at WrestleMania 41 in April 2025. She was revealed as Lyra Valkyria’s mystery tag team partner, sending the Vegas crowd into a frenzy.
But behind the scenes, Lynch had already made a major decision. She had signed a new deal with WWE, and as she reveals in Unreal, this will be her last contract as an in-ring performer.
“This is probably it, y’know. This is the final run, this is the final contract… So I suppose it’s a matter of knowing that, understanding that, and enjoying that the best I can.”
Balancing Wrestling and Motherhood
One of the most emotional parts of Lynch’s story is how deeply she loves her daughter, and how difficult it’s been to leave her for long stretches of time. She explained how hard it is to return from the road only to feel her child’s disappointment.
“That guilt is always hard. I have this little kid that I’d then be leaving… The time off, it was maybe going to be forever. I was so content.”
Now back in the ring, Lynch is choosing to enjoy every remaining moment, while accepting that this chapter will soon come to a close.
Current Run and What’s Next
Currently, Becky Lynch is in her second reign as WWE Women’s Intercontinental Champion, having reclaimed the title from Maxxine Dupri on the January 5 episode of Monday Night Raw. She’s as sharp and dominant in the ring as ever, continuing to build on a legendary career that includes:
- 7-time Women’s World Champion
- WrestleMania 35 main event winner
- Royal Rumble winner
- Intercontinental Champion (2x)
Outside the ring, she’s also expanding her resume in Hollywood, starring in Happy Gilmore 2 and landing a recurring role in Star Trek: Starfleet Academy on Paramount+ as Lieutenant Ya.
