WWE has made a big move for its NXT brand, and it’s a game-changer for fans. After years of streaming on Peacock, NXT premium live events (PLEs) are now heading to television, giving them a much wider reach.
NXT PLEs moving to The CW
WWE has confirmed that NXT premium live events will start airing on The CW this summer. The change will begin with the NXT The Great American Bash.
According to reports, around 20 NXT PLEs will be broadcast on The CW over the next few years. This is a major shift because these events were earlier available mainly through streaming platforms.
Why this move is important
This change means fans will now be able to watch NXT’s biggest shows on regular TV, without needing a streaming subscription.
The CW has already been airing weekly NXT episodes since 2024, after signing a five-year deal with WWE. Now, this partnership is growing stronger.
Shawn Michaels, who currently leads NXT, shared his excitement about the move. He said The CW has helped increase the popularity of young WWE stars and that bringing PLEs to TV is a big step forward.
What happened after Peacock deal ended
Earlier, WWE’s premium events were streaming on Peacock. But after that deal ended:
- Main roster events went to ESPN
- NXT events had no clear home for a while
In fact, the recent NXT Stand & Deliver was streamed on YouTube as a temporary solution.
Now, with this new deal, things are finally settled.
NXT’s role in building WWE superstars
Since it became a separate brand in 2012, NXT has been WWE’s training ground for future stars.
Under Shawn Michaels’ leadership since 2021 (after Triple H stepped away), NXT has focused more on developing fresh talent instead of relying on already famous independent wrestlers.
This approach has already produced rising stars like:
- Oba Femi
- Bron Breakker
- Trick Williams
These names are seen as future main-event players, possibly even at WrestleMania.
Recent call-ups show NXT’s success
Many NXT talents have recently moved to WWE’s main roster shows like Raw and SmackDown. Some of them include:
- Je’Von Evans
- Jordynne Grace
- Ethan Page
- Sol Ruca
This shows how effective NXT has been in preparing wrestlers for bigger stages.
At the same time, stars like Tony D’Angelo and Lola Vice are still leading the brand and helping maintain its identity.
What this means for the future
With so many wrestlers moving up to the main roster, NXT now has a great chance to build new stars quickly.
The move to The CW will also give these rising talents more visibility, as more viewers can now watch them perform without needing a streaming service.
The shift of NXT premium live events to The CW is a smart and important step for WWE. It not only makes these events more accessible to fans but also strengthens NXT’s role as a key part of WWE’s future.
With strong leadership under Shawn Michaels and a constant flow of new talent, NXT is in a great position to grow even bigger. This move could help create the next generation of wrestling superstars while bringing more attention to a brand that has already proven its value time and again.
