At Worlds Collide: Las Vegas, Dominik defeated El Hijo Del Vikingo, taking the title in a match that drew international attention. The victory added major credibility to Mysterio’s global profile — and proved that AAA storylines could carry real weight within WWE’s broader universe.
Despite the loss, Vikingo’s performance at the event turned heads backstage in WWE. In fact, it helped open the door to a major milestone.
El Hijo Del Vikingo Signs with WWE
It’s now official — El Hijo Del Vikingo has signed with WWE. The high-flying sensation is the first AAA homegrown star currently assigned to the AAA brand to sign directly with WWE.
This signals big things for both Vikingo and AAA’s role within WWE’s global expansion. Since the start of their partnership, Vikingo has been stealing the show in every outing, most recently defeating El Grande Americano on the January 17 debut episode of AAA on FOX.
Fans have speculated about his future ever since WWE began promoting him more heavily — and now, with a WWE contract in hand, Vikingo’s presence in crossover events and even WWE premium live events could increase dramatically.
What About the Other AAA Stars?
While Vikingo is officially signed to WWE, many of AAA’s legacy stars are currently signed to FILLIP, the company that co-owns and controls AAA alongside TKO Group Holdings (the parent company of WWE and UFC).

With the 2026 Royal Rumble taking place on January 26 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, fans are buzzing about a possible surprise appearance by Vikingo. Given his WWE deal and growing presence on WWE and AAA programming, he would be a fitting surprise entrant in the men’s Rumble match — potentially showcasing AAA’s talent to a wider audience.
If Vikingo does appear, it would mark the first time an officially AAA-assigned wrestler participates in a WWE Royal Rumble match — another milestone in the ever-evolving relationship between the two companies.
AAA’s Growth Under WWE Ownership
AAA has undergone major expansion since WWE acquired the brand. One of the biggest developments was AAA’s TV deal with FOX, announced in November 2025. The agreement streams AAA programming across Mexico, Canada, and South America, further cementing AAA’s place as an international powerhouse.
